Where This Trend Came From
Just like many other trends out there on the internet, a lot of them have come from TikTok. It seriously is a huge influence on what people will be wearing, where to shop from, and how to style pieces. I have seen people style clothing from brands I have never even heard of before until seeing their video and now I am obsessed with it. The Coconut Girl trend came from TikTok as we just mentioned and it is all about the beachy aesthetic with flower and hibiscus printed clothing, tropical drinks, beaded colorful jewelry, mini skirts, pastel and bright colored outfits, funky sunglasses, small purses, platform flip flops, shell necklaces, crochet dresses, and so much more. When I first saw people wearing this style, it sort of reminded me of Y2K but also a VSCO girl vibe so it definitely has a unique twist to it. Although my personal style is a mix of minimal and cottage core, I would love to try this out for the summer.

Personally, I believe that this trend may only last for this summer because in the Winter and Fall, it will be a lot harder to figure out how to style these colorful pieces. They may carry on to the following Summer which would be great just like the tie-dye trend which was super hot during quarantine but we don’t see as much of it now.
