NYFW with Dennis Basso’s Spring/Summer 2022 Presentation

Handmade and presented in New York City, Dennis Basso introduced his Mediterranean Odyssey themed Spring/Summer 2021 Presentation on Sunday, September 12th. I was recently invited to this amazing presentation and had the chance to attend to view all of the lovely dresses. Basso gave all of the attendees a welcoming atmosphere where you can walk around, grab a drink, chat with others, and admire the beautiful gowns and dresses.

Thank you to Dennis Basso for granting me the opportunity to attend such a well put together show. I have curated some of my favorite looks below and you can find more content from this show over on my instagram @pamelamvaldez linked at the bottom of this post. Comment your favorite piece from the show and what your dream show is that you’d love to attend! I am looking forward to attending many more Fashion Weeks and this was just the beginning.

If you love any of these outfits and have gotten inspiration or want to try to recreate them, leaving a comment and let us know on our instagram @glamourandguide!

As you walk throughout the presentation, you will find flashes of photographers all around you as they are capturing the beauty of the dresses. There was a bar for complimentary drinks, pamphlets of the show being handed out giving credit to the team that put everything together, and some interviews being put together as well on the side.

Capturing some of the excitement of the presentation above, I enjoyed walking through and seeing everyone chatting over different topics and of course bonding over their love of fashion. This is the best part about attending these events and being within this atmosphere is getting to be around those who love fashion just as much as you.

Pictured above is myself with Dennis Basso. I was able to grab a quick photo with him as he went around to chat with multiple people and speak on his collection.

I loved that there was a mix of patterns, prints, and bright colors within the presentation. The models looked stunning in everything and it fit them perfectly. Seeing these colors mixed with fun prints was a great touch to accentuate the theme of Mediterranean Odyssey.

The draping of these dresses as well was something that caught my eye! It may look like a typical halter top dress at the top but the bottom gives a great detailing. Some dresses were also very form fitting and gave the body some more emphasis which was unique.

Pictured above was another highlight of the event which was meeting Kate Bartlett — a fashion influencer, content creator, and student at The Fashion Institute of Technology which I am currently attending as well! She was incredibly sweet and it was so great to attend and also get the chance to talk to her.

My Outfit For NYFW

For my look, I chose to pick a pair of platform loafers and have that as the main statement of my outfit. Not only were they very comfortable fo walking around, but they are a great pair of basics that you need in your closet for the Fall. I paired it with a simple black leather skirt and white classic button up. To separate from the black and white look, I added a chunky gold beige bag and loved every piece of this look.
